Ed Joyce bids Adieu to International Cricket

Cricket Ireland’s long serving veteran, Ed Joyce, has announced his retirement from International cricket with immediate effect from 24th May 2018.

Joyce, however will be very much be a part of Irish cricket system as a batting coach in the Irish performance system. He will also oversee leadership development in the system.

“I feel now is the right time to stop playing and get started on a new chapter. The recent Test match against Pakistan was such an incredible few days and was the perfect game for me to say was my last in professional cricket” Joyce said on Cricket Ireland website.

“I am very grateful to Cricket Ireland for giving me the opportunity to get involved in the coaching set-up. I know I have a huge amount to learn about the art of coaching, but I know I also have a huge amount of knowledge that I’m determined to pass on to the next generation of Irish talent.”

Ed Joyce has represented both Ireland and England in limited overs Internationals (ODI’s and T20I’s) and a solitary debut Test match in Irish colours in May 2018 against Pakistan at home.

His career also includes 16 years of County Championships in UK with Middlesex County Club and Sussex County Club. Ireland XI and Sussex Sharks will be playing a T20 game at Arundel Castle on 24th Jun 2018 as part of the Ed Joyce Testimonial Year programme by Sussex County Club in recognition of his services to the Club.
