European Cricket Network (ECN) has announced the launch of the European Cricket Championship (ECC), after receiving official sanctioning by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Cartama Oval in Malaga in Spain will be the host of the first edition of the tournament from September 13th and October 08th. Five national teams will feature in each of the three group-stage weeks, with the winners qualifying directly for the “Finals” Week. The two best second place finishers during the group stages will also take their place at Finals Week on October 04th – 08th in Spain.
“We increase participation with the European Cricket Series and high performance with the Champions League framework of the European Cricket League. ECC rounds off our platform to grow the game, highlighting the national pride of cricketers in Europe and giving them a stage to represent their countries in the T10 format,” ECN founder Daniel Weston said on the official website.
The participating countries in the inaugural edition of the tournament are England amateurs (National County Cricketers Association amateur representative team), Luxembourg, Italy, Netherlands XI, Germany, Austria, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic, Portugal and Finland.
The tournament adds to up to the company’s portfolio that contains the European Cricket League (ECL) and European Cricket Series (ECS) events in the T10 format of the white-ball format of the game. The ECC draw was conducted on 12th March and the groups were announced. Group A will feature team’s from Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Norway and Luxembourg and will play their group matches from September 13th – 17th.
Group B matches will take place from September 20th – 24th and consists of team’s from Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Austria and Netherlands XI. Group C matches will take place from September 27th – October 01st and will feature team’s from Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy and England representative team.

European Cricket Network (ECN) ha anunciado el lanzamiento del European Cricket Championship (ECC), luego de recibir la sanción oficial del International Cricket Council (ICC).
