Germany name ex-Afghanistan player Dawlatzai in squad for T20 Tour of Denmark

International cricket comes to Copenhagen as Cricket Germany will be travelling to Denmark towards end of Jul 2018 to play in a 5-match T20 series against the host’s.

Both Germany and Denmark are scheduled to be part of the same group in the upcoming ICC World T20 Europe qualifiers along with Austria, Portugal, Cyprus and France in Aug/Sep 2018 in Netherlands and this series will provide the perfect opportunity for players from both the camps to get some crucial match practice, before they take part in the ICC tournament.

While Germany have been slowly growing among the European ranks in the past couple of years, Denmark only recently secured their qualification for ICC World Cricket League Division 3 in Malaysia, to be held towards the end of 2018.

Germany have named ex-Afghanistan International, Izatullah Dawlatzai in the 18-member squad chosen by Head Coach, Steven Knox. Dawlatzai has represented Afghanistan earlier before relocating to Germany due to personal reasons in 5 ODI’s, 4 T20I’s and was an integral part of the Intercontinental Cup squad. He also played a crucial role in Afghanistan’s campaign in the 2012 ICC World T20 qualifiers.

Izatullah currently plays for the Northern Seals in the DCB Super Series. Rishi Pillai once again leads the National squad, having recently led them in ICC WCL Division 5 in Benoni, South Africa in Sep 2017.
