Nick Greenwood, who represented Jersey’s men’s national squad during the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE in October/November 2019, has been making significant contributions for his club and state level competitions in Wellington’s domestic cricket circuit in New Zealand in the past couple of months.
Greenwood’s stint with Taita Cricket Club saw him play 5 games in the Ewen Chatfield Trophy 2020/21 (Division 1) in the 50-overs format, in which he amassed 233 runs as an opener @58.25 and also picked up 6 wickets with his off-spin bowling. He also took part in the Kilbirnie Sports Hawke’s Bay T20 Tournament for the club, making 116 runs in 4 games in the process.
His performances were noticed by Wellington Cricket, as he was picked in the Firebirds squad for 5th round of Ford Trophy game against Auckland Aces. Although he did not make into the final XI, he still very much remains on the cusp of making his Firebirds debut sooner than later in the near future.
Greenwood is currently representing Mt Vic Vikings team in the Sports Emporium Wellington Premier League, which is being played in the T20 format, before the beginning of Dream11 Super Smash, New Zealand cricket’s domestic franchise T20 league. Greenwood made his T20I debut for Jersey during the team’s tour of Qatar in 2019 and has played eight T20I’s so far, along with five List-A games played during the 1st round of CWC Challenge League Group B in Oman in 2019 as well.
Jersey have International tournaments lined up next year, with them hosting the 2nd round of CWC Challenge League Group B in September 2021 and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in Spain in October 2021.
