GT20 Canada adds 10 more Canadian players for the T20 League

In a bid to provide more exposure and opportunities to Canadian youth involved in cricket, Mercuri Canada Ltd, promoters of the inaugural Global T20 Canada, have agreed with Cricket Canada to include 10 additional domestic players, equally distributed among the five franchises.

All five franchise team’s, Edmonton Royals, Montreal Tigers, Toronto Nationals, Vancouver Knights and Winnipeg Hawks, have a squad of 16 players each and the inclusion of the 2 additional players will take the total squad strength to 18.

The Chosen Canadian domestic players for GT20 Canada:

Vancouver Knights: Jimmy Hansra and Ravinderpal Singh

Edmonton Royals: Bupinder Singh Sohal and Varun Sehdev

Toronto Nationals: Navneet Dhaliwal and Armaan Kapoor

Montreal Tigers: Arslan Khan and Bhavindu Adhihetty

Winnipeg Hawks: Dhanuka Pathirana and Faisal Jamkhandi

Most of the players chosen were part of Canada U19 squad, which took part in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Feb 2018 in New Zealand.

In other developments, ATN (Asian Television Network) has got the broadcasting rights for the T20 league and will be showing all the matches Live on their CBN channel, available across various cable networks in Canada.
