Historic day for Bhutan Cricket II Crowned ACC Eastern region T20 Champions

Bhutan Cricket has a new historic chapter in the history of their Cricket as they were crowned Champions of ACC Eastern region T20 tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. Bhutan shocked host’s and tournament favourites Thailand in an absolute thriller in the final by only 3 runs to emerge victorious.

In a thriller of a Final match played out at TCG ground, Bhutan defended a low total of 101 runs by restricting Thailand to 98 runs in a match which went down to the wire.

Bhutan’s total of 101/9 from their 20 overs revolved mainly around a 46-runs partnership for the 6th wicket between Jigme Singye (27 off 40) and Thinley Jamtsho (31 off 21). Robert Raina (3/14) was the best bowler on show for Thailand with others providing good support and chipping in with wickets.

Thailand skipper Daniel Jacobs (48 off 48) fought a lone battle before he perished in the 16th over. Bhutan bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals to keep the scoring in check and have Thailand at 75/8. Sarbjot Sukhija (17 off 19) took Thailand to within reaching distance but fell on the final ball of the innings with Thailand needing four runs from it for the victory.

Suprit Pradhan (3/8) was at his best and along with Kumar Subba (2/12) and Jigme Singye (2/22), rattled that Thai chase and brought humongous joy to the nation of Bhutan on a historic day for Cricket for the Bhutanese.
