HKI United unveil opening firepower among overseas players for 2018 HKT20 Blitz

As earlier reported that Pakistan’s Hasan Ali & Shadab Khan were going to be part of HKT20 Blitz franchise, HKI United’s squad for the upcoming 3rd edition of the T20 League, the franchise has now disclosed a completely different line-up of overseas professionals for the tournament.

Hong Kong Island United have added a lot of firepower at the top of their line-up with signings of Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal and New Zealand’s Luke Ronchi along with Ryan ten Doeschate from Netherlands as part of their associate player in the squad. Completing the line-up for HKI are Mohammad Irfan and Hussain Talat from Pakistan.

It doesn’t come much of a surprise that the squad contains recognised talent from Pakistan considering HKI being owned by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Islamabad United. Luke Ronchi will also play for Islamabad United in the upcoming PSL in Dubai.

Ryan ten Doeschate brings years of T20 experience to the table with stints in IPL, Big Bash, Natwest T20 Blast & others and recently came out of retirement to start playing for Netherlands again.

Mohammad Irfan has been bogged by injuries for the majority of his cricketing career and he will be looking forward to put on a show to stake a comeback claim into the Pakistan limited overs team. Kamran Akmal recently smashed a double century in the Departmental One Day Cup in Pakistan while Ronchi has been in smashing form in T20’s in Caribbean Premier League and New Zealand’s Super Smash.
