ICC EAP move to 2nd place in points table in 50-overs in 2018 Toyota ACCC

ICC East Asia-Pacific men’s team had a quick turnaround after their loss in the 3rd round of the 50-overs competition in the 2018 Toyota Australian Country Championships by winning a hard fought 27 runs win over Queensland country in the 4th round of the event.

The victory keeps ICC EAP firmly on their way to qualify for the final with the final round of group matches against South Australia to be played on 13th Jan 2018. EAP men’s team currently sit in 2nd place in the points table for 50-overs category.

Queensland won the toss and put ICC EAP into bat first as EAP team managed to post 252/9 in their 50 overs. Nalin Nipiko continued his good form in the competition by notching up yet another half-century as he scored 66 off 96 deliveries. Kipling Doriga, moved up the batting order, also came good in a knock of 53 runs off 67 deliveries. Ronald Tari (36 off 49) also contributed towards the team total which could have been lot higher if EAP did not lose wickets in a cluster in the final overs.

Jake Roach (4/51) and Christopher Stanger (3/41) were the pick of the bowlers for Queensland country.

Mitchell English (38 off 51) and Sam Lowry (76 off 104) got Queensland to a good start but after their departure, the rest of the batting line-up could not post bigger innings to take the game close. The required rate along with wicket falls in regular intervals put the pressure on Queensland batsmen as the team got bowled out for 225 in 48.1 overs to lose the contest by 27 runs.

Jelany Chilia (4/50) was the star of the ICC EAP bowling line-up with Nosaina Pokona, Damian Ravu and Wesley Viralilu picking up a wicket each.
