Singapore Cricket to host 2nd edition of Asia Pacific Champions Trophy in June 2026

Singapore Cricket Association (SCA) will be hosting the Men’s National teams of Indonesia, Thailand and Uzbekistan in the second (2nd) edition of the Asia Pacific Champions Trophy tournament (with ICC T20I team ranking points) from June 22nd – 26th, 2026, at the Singapore National Cricket Ground. With all the teams already in Singapore since the beginning of the month for the ACC Men’s Challenger Cup tournament (which was played in the 50-overs format), this tournament will be a continuation of their stay in the country, and will provide competitive game-time in the T20 format.

For Uzbekistan Men, this tournament will be their first-ever competition in the T20 format with ranking points, and will be the first-ever meeting for them with the remaining teams in T20Is. The inaugural edition was hosted last year in July, and included the host’s Singapore, and the eventual Champions, Malaysia, alongside Hong Kong-China and Samoa.

Cricket Sweden to host 2nd edition of Men’s Viking Cup in June 2026

Cricket Sweden will be hosting the Men’s National Teams of Finland, Norway and Austria in the second (2nd) edition of Viking Cup from June 11th – 14th, 2026 at the Botkyrka Cricket Center ground in Stockholm. Austria Men are the Defending Champions from the inaugural edition hosted last year, where they won against Norway in the Final.

The event will mark the first international tournament organized by the European Cricket Association (ECA) as part of its finalized international schedule for the year. Their schedule for this year also includes the inaugural editions of European Championships for Men, Women, and the Under-19 category.

Established in 2024 during the ICC Annual General Meeting in Colombo, the ECA now comprises fourteen (14) Associate Cricket Boards from across the region as its members. The founding Cricket Boards in the ECA were France Cricket, Romania, Malta, Jersey, Austria and Italy.

Hong Kong Cricket to host Women’s T20I Tri-series in May 2026

Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHK) will be hosting the Women’s National teams of Malaysia and China for a T20 International Tri-series tournament (with ICC Women’s T20I team ranking points) from May 07th – 11th, 2026, at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. All the teams will play against each other in a double round-robin group stage format, followed by the FINAL between the top two (2) teams in the points table.

While China and Hong Kong, China Women’s teams have met each other thirteen (13) times in T20I cricket, China and Malaysia Women have met only twice in T20Is till date. With rankings movements around them from teams competing in the ICC Women’s Challenge Trophy in Rwanda (USA, Nepal, Italy, Rwanda and Vanuatu), this series will be crucial for Hong Kong and Malaysia Women, to win matches and get enough ranking points to maintain or improve their overall rank in the table.

Indonesia Men to tour Malaysia for T20I series before T20 World Cup EAP Qualifier

Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) will be hosting the Men’s National team of Indonesia for a four (4)-match T20 International series (with ICC T20I team ranking points) from May 01st – 05th, 2026, at the Bayuemas Oval ground in Kuala Lumpur. This series will be final preparations for the Indonesian Men’s team, before they travel to Japan for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Qualifier.

The two (2) teams have met only twice in T20Is, with their last game coming during the SEA Games 2025, held in Thailand in December. Malaysia have won both the games and will be looking to extend their winning streak against the visitors.

The Cricket Boards of Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong, China are beginning the preparation for their U19 Women’s National teams, ahead of the regional qualifiers towards 2027 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and Nepal. Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong, China U19 Women teams will be part of the Asia qualifiers, while Indonesia will be competing in the East Asia-Pacific (EAP) qualifier in April 2026 in Papua New Guinea.

Hong Kong, China U19 Women will be in Thailand for a bi-lateral T20 Youth International series, comprising of five (5) matches from April 01st – 06th, 2026, while Indonesia U19 Women will be in Malaysia for their bi-lateral T20 Youth International series, comprising of five (5) matches from March 31st – April 03rd, 2026.

How Dhangadhi Talent Hunt Became Nepal Cricket’s Hidden Goldmine

Back in the early days of the Dhangadhi Premier League, a simple talent hunt initiative promised to unearth the next generation of Nepali cricketers. At the time, it felt like just another grassroots exercise. When 12 young cricketers were shortlisted through the Dhangadhi talent hunt, the goal was clear – bridge the gap between raw, untapped talent in Sudurpashchim and Nepal’s growing franchise ecosystem.

Talent hunts continue to identify players like Abhishek Pal, cricketers grinding through domestic circuits, waiting for their breakthrough moment. The original talent hunt list may not have immediately produced international stars. But it did something more important – it proved that talent exists beyond Kathmandu.

The Dhangadhi Premier League (2017–2019) acted as a scouting ecosystem Backed by Dhangadhi Cricket Academy, which is now widely seen as a feeder system.

Malaysia Cricket to host Hong Kong A and U19 Men for OD/T20 series in March/April 2026

Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) will be hosting the U19 Men’s National team of Hong Kong, China for a three (3)-match series in the 50-overs format from March 26th – 29th, 2026 at the Bayuemas oval ground. The series will help both the teams in their preparations towards qualification pathway tournament for 2028 U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

After the conclusion of the U19 Youth series, the A squads of both the countries will play against each other in both T20 and 50-overs format, in a three (3)-match series in both the formats in April 2026 at the same venue.

Cricket PNG to host Boroko Motors ISUZU T20 Smash in March 2026

Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) will be hosting the Men’s and Women’s Boroko Motors ISUZU T20 Smash tournament from March 19th – 29th, 2026 at Amini Park, Port Moresby. Players from across the Southern, Highlands, Momase and Islands regions will come together to compete in four (4) franchise teams, namely Black Bass, Mudmen, Cassowaries and Mariners. Black Bass (Women’s) and Cassowaries (Men’s) are the Defending Champions from last year’s edition held in May.

The tournament will also feature selected players from the PNG U19 Siales training squad, who will take part as part of their preparation for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 East Asia Pacific World Cup Qualifier in 2026. Both Men’s and Women’s National teams also have International commitments lined up, which includes qualification pathway events towards Cricket World Cup/T20 World Cup.

Cricket Nepal to host Men’s PM Cup 2026 in March/April

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) will be hosting the Men’s Prime Ministers Cup (Men’s PM Cup) from March 21st – April 17th, 2026 across four (4) venues in Tribhuvan University cricket ground, Mulpani cricket ground, Narayani cricket ground and Shree Ram Janaki cricket ground. The tournament will be played in the One-day format (50-overs) and will be contested by the seven (7) provincial teams and three (3) departmental teams. Nepal Police Club are the Defending Champions of the trophy from the previous edition.

With Nepal’s home round of 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI Championship (Round 16) postponed due to currently ongoing tensions in West Asia (both Oman and UAE could not travel due to restrictions), the cricket board has scheduled the competition to have the players get competitive game-time before other International assignments for this year continues after April.

Airspace Crisis Strands Bahrain Team in Thailand – Malaysia Hosts Emergency T20I/OD Series

Bahrain Cricket Federation has arranged a last-minute bilateral T20I series and a One-day series with Malaysian Cricket Association, after escalating tensions across the West Asian region forced the closure of several air corridors for civilian passenger flights. Bahrain’s squad had been in Thailand competing in a Quadrangular T20I series when the regional situation rapidly deteriorated, creating significant travel uncertainty for teams attempting to return home.

With commercial flight options severely disrupted due to temporary airspace closures across parts of the Middle East, the Bahrain Cricket Federation moved quickly to ensure the team remained active internationally rather than remaining stranded in Southeast Asia. In coordination with the Malaysian Cricket Association, both boards agreed to organize an emergency three (3)-match T20 International series, which will carry official ICC T20I ranking points. The three (3)-match One-day series will start after the completion of the T20I series from March 12th – 16th, 2026.

The short tour provides Bahrain with competitive cricket during an uncertain travel window while offering Malaysia valuable ranking opportunities on home soil.
