Papua New Guinea to compete in 2026 National Indigenous Cricket Championships in Australia in April

The ongoing collaboration between Cricket Australia and PacificAus Sports will see the inclusion of the Papua New Guinea Men’s National team in the 2026 National Indigenous Cricket Championships in McKay, Queensland from April 14th – 19th, 2026. PNG Men’s inclusion comes as an outcome of a consultation with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cricket Advisory Group and will see the Pacific nation compete in the group stage. However, this will be crucial preparations for the Barramundis ahead of their travel to Japan in May 2026, for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific (EAP) qualifier.

PNG Women’s players will also be part of the Championships, although not as the National team, but with players selected to represent the South Australian squad in the Women’s Championships. Teams from New South Wales, Western Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory will compete in the Men’s category along with Queensland, while the Women’s category will feature teams from Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

How does Cricket Australia help in developing the sport in the Pacific region among the Associate Member nations?

Cricket Australia (CA) supports the growth of the sport in the entire Pacific Region. In collaboration with Australia Government and PacificAus Sports, Pacific Nations tournaments are now taking place every year since the last 2 years and player placements for Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Vanuatu has been happening for past 2-3 years now in the grade-cricket/club-cricket structure in Australia and in New Zealand. Australia Indigenous Men’s and Women’s teams have toured Vanuatu for bi-lateral series, while CA also ensures that either PNG or an ICC EAP combined squad competes every year in the Australian Country Cricket Championships. Northern Territory Cricket (NT Cricket) have been involving PNG and Nepal in the Top End T20 Tournament now.

Bali Set to Host Historic Indonesia vs Sweden T20I Series in April 2026

Associate cricket continues to rewrite its own growth story — and this time, the spotlight shifts to Bali.

The Indonesia Cricket Association will host the Sweden men’s national team from April 07th – 13th, 2026 at the Udayana Cricket Ground, marking a landmark moment for both nations and the wider Associate cricket ecosystem. The bilateral series will feature eight (8) ICC-recognized T20 Internationals, with valuable T20I ranking points on the line. But beyond the numbers, this tour represents something far bigger: a clear sign that Associate Members are building their own global cricketing pathways.

Cook Islands Men to play T20 Tri-series in Auckland in January 2026

Cook Islands Cricket will be hosting a T20 Tri-series tournament, featuring their Men’s National Team, alongside two (2) Auckland Cricket Association (ACA) sides, namely Auckland Development team and Auckland Indians team, from January 04th – 10th, 2026 at the Cornwall Cricket Club ground in Auckland, for “The Kuki Cup”. Cook Islands Cricket Association (CICA) have a good relationship with Domestic Clubs/Franchises in New Zealand, and have toured the country for preparatory tours previously.

Cook Islands Men’s team will be in International action later this year in May, when they travel to Japan for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier (EAP Qualifier), and this event will provide much required game-time for the team to start their preparations towards that.

Cricket Indonesia to host Cambodia Men for T20I series in December 2025

Indonesia Cricket Association will be hosting the Men’s National team of Cambodia for an eight (8)-match T20 International series (with ICC team ranking points) from December 23rd – 28th, 2025 at the Udayana Cricket Ground in Bali. This will be the second (2nd) bi-lateral series this year between the two (2) teams, with the earlier one having taken place in June, where Cambodia Men were the winners 5-2 in the similar eight (8)-match series.

PNG Women to compete in 2026 Australian Country Cricket Championships in January

The 2026 Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships (ACCC) will be held in the Busselton-Margaret River region of Western Australia from January 03rd – 11th, hosting both men’s and women’s teams from various Australian states and territories, continuing its tradition as a premier event for grassroots country cricket talent. The ICC EAP (East Asia-Pacific) representation in this edition will be from the PNG Lewas team (Papua New Guinea Women), who will be preparing for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal in January/February 2026.

The event will take place across various cricket grounds within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and the City of Busselton, including Gloucester Park, Cowaramup Oval, Barnard Park, Bovell and the Dunsborough Playing Fields. PNG Women will play the other teams in the competition in both the T20 format and the 50-overs format.

Cricket Indonesia (Persatuan Cricket Indonesia) will be hosting the Men’s National team of Bahrain for a three (3)-match T20 International series (with ICC team ranking points) from November 18th – 21st, 2025 at the Udayana Cricket Ground in Bali. This will be the second (2nd) tour for the Bahrain Men’s team to Indonesia this year, having played their maiden bi-lateral series with them back in February 2025, after the conclusion of the 2nd round of CWC Challenge League Group B tournament in Hong Kong, China in February.

Cricket Indonesia to host Men’s T20I Tri-series in November 2025

Cricket Indonesia will be hosting the Men’s National Teams of Myanmar and Timor Leste in a T20 International Tri-series tournament (with ICC team rankings points) from November 06th – 14th, 2025 at the Udayana Cricket Ground in Bali for the BBI: Rising East Asia Tri-Series title. This event will mark Timor Leste Men’s team debut in T20Is, having been approved of Associate Membership during ICC Annual General Meeting this year.

The teams will be playing against each other in a quadraple round-robin group stage format. Hence, at the end of the Tri-series, Timor Leste would be playing the minimum number of matches to get their T20I ranking. All three teams are expected to be part of the SEA Games 2025 in December in Thailand, and thus this Tri-series will provide all the teams the necessary preparations.

Cricket PNG to host UAE Women for ODI series in October 2025

Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) will be hosting the Women’s National team of United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a four (4)-match One-day International series (with ICC team ranking points) from October 13th – 19th, 2025 at the Amini Park ground in Port Moresby. This tour follows the successful tour of UAE Women in Zimbabwe, where they played their first ever ODI matches, and tied the four (4)-match series 2-2.

PNG Women’s team, also known as the “Lewas”, will be playing ODI cricket for the first time since September 2025, when they last played against Netherlands. The Women’s team retained their ODI status on 01st May 2025 for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup cycle of 2026-2029. These matches will be the first Women’s ODI matches to take place at the Amini Park ground, which doesn’t get to host much International cricket (with teams not from ICC EAP region) outside of hosting regional competitions in the Pacific region.

PNG Lewas have a busy period coming up with tours to Thailand in November 2025 for the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy, and then the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal in January/February.

Nepal Men to feature in 4th edition of Top End T20 tournament in Darwin in August 2025

Northern Territory Cricket (NT Cricket) will be hosting the fourth (4th) edition of the Top End T20 Series in Darwin from 14th – 24th August, 2025, across five (5) venues, namely including DXC Arena, TIO Stadium, Gardens Oval, Cazaly’s Arena and Freds Pass. Four (4) International cricket teams will travel to Darwin to compete alongside 6 inter-state domestic teams and the NT Strike, with a record 36 T20 fixtures to be played during the tournament’s duration.

Nepal Men’s team will have further fixtures against Cricket ACT team (T20s) and South Australia team (T20s and 50-overs) after the completion of the Top End T20 tournament, before returning back home and continue their preparations towards 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers.

NT Cricket CEO, Gavin Dovey “We created the Top End T20 Series in 2021 as part of a national winter cricket concept, Cricket 365, that showcases the Territory as the only place in Australia that plays cricket all year round. The event has grown exponentially since then. We’ve more than doubled the number of teams participating, we’ve welcomed international teams from across the globe, and we’ve watched our broadcast audience increase threefold from 4mn people to over 12mn total viewers.”

Nepal Men’s National team will be competing in the 4th edition of the event, which has earlier seen National team of Papua New Guinea (PNG) take part in the first two (2) editions, and has also seen participation from A team of Pakistan and Bangladesh, who will join again in this year’s edition. The winners of the US Minor League Cricket (MiLC) tournament, Chicago Kingsmen Franchise, have also been confirmed as the 4th International team in the competition. Hobart Hurricanes Academy, Perth Scorchers Academy, Adelaide Strikers Academy, Melbourne Stars Academy, Melbourne Renegades Academy, ACT Comets and NT Strike will be local teams taking part in the competitive alongside the International Franchise/Countries.

Indonesia Cricket will be hosting the Men’s National teams of Philippines and South Korea in the Bali Bash International Rising Asia Tri-series from July 06th – 13th, 2025 at the Udayana Cricket Ground in Bali. All the participating teams will play each other in a quadruple round-robin group format during the series, who last met each other in the same event during the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific (EAP) sub-regional qualifier held in Incheon, South Korea in September/October 2024.
