Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) have announced the tournament dates for the inaugural edition of Nepal T20 domestic franchise tournament, and will take place from December 23rd – January 10th, 2023. The near month long event will feature six (6) Franchise teams (namely Kathmandu Knights, Janakpur Royals, Far West United, Lumbini All Stars, Biratnagar Super Kings and Pokhara Avengers) playing each other in a double round-robin group stage format, followed by the knock-out stages of the tournament. Seven3Sports, a Sports Management and Distribution/Media company, has been roped in as the strategic and commercial partner for the event.
This will be the official domestic T20 league organized by the Nepal Cricket Board, while there remains other privately organized T20 Leagues in the country like Everest Premier League (EPL) and Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL). Some of the overseas players signed up by the franchises for the competition include the likes of Mohammad Shahzad and Hashmatullah Shahidi (all Afghanistan), Sean Williams (Zimbabwe), Matthew Forde (West Indies), Umar Ali (Pakistan) for Far West United, Chadwick Walton and Kesrick Williams (all West Indies), Sharafuddin Ashraf (Afghanistan) for Janakpur Royals, Ryan Burl (Zimbabwe), Azmatullah Omarzai (Afghanistan), Alex Blake (England), Virandeep Singh (Malaysia) for Kathmandu Knights, Hussain Talat (Pakistan), Keon Joseph and Andre McCarthy (West Indies), Gauranshu Sharma (USA), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe) for Biratnagar Super Kings, Pat Brown (England), Unmukt Chand, Harmeet Singh, Lahiru Milantha and Shadley van Shalkwyk (all USA) for Lumbini All Stars, Mohammad Hafeez and Ameer Hamza (all Pakistan), Zahir Khan (Afghanistan) for Pokhara Avengers.
