Indonesia to host U19 Women’s East Asia-Pacific Qualifiers in July 2022

Indonesian Cricket Association (ICA) have announced that International Cricket Council (ICC) have awarded the hosting rights to them for the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Qualifiers in July 2022.

Matches in the qualifier will be held in Bali from July 03rd – 05th, where U19 team’s from Indonesia and Papua New Guinea will compete for the lone qualification spot into the main draw of the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup, to be hosted by Cricket South Africa in 2023. The PNG U19 squad are travelling to Darwin in Australia for a week-long preparatory camp before travelling to Bali on June 28th, where they will play three (3) practice matches against local clubs ahead of the qualifying games.

The U19 Women’s T20 World Cup event will be a 16-team affair with 11 full member nations – Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Out of the five remaining spots, four will be determined by regional Qualifiers, while the fifth spot has been automatically awarded to the USA on account of the side being the only Associate nation eligible to compete under the ICC’s Event Pathway Participation Criteria in the Americas region.
