Injury forces Anshuman Rath to withdraw from 2018 Emerging Nations Cup

Aizaz Khan will lead the Hong Kong side in the upcoming 2018 ACC Emerging Nations Asia Cup after a hand injury has forced Anshuman Rath to withdraw from the squad and captaincy responsibilities. The injury to Rath happened during a net-session and will now be hoping to recover in time to participate in Nepal’s T20 league, Everest Premier League for Biratnagar Warriors from Dec 08th, 2018.

Hong Kong are in the same group as host’s Pakistan, Bangladesh and UAE and all games have been awarded List-A status by the ACC, with the Full-Members fielding U23 squads with provision for 4 above U23 category age players. Associate qualifiers from 2018 Asia Cup qualifiers (Hong Kong, UAE and Oman) are allowed to field their senior squads for the tournament.

Hong Kong have played good amount of 50-overs cricket in the past 2-3 months with the Asia Cup qualifiers, followed by the main draw of 2018 Asia Cup and series of 6 matches in the same format against Papua New Guinea. Aizaz captained the Hong Kong side during the recent West Pacific and South China cup tournaments held in Hong Kong, being toured by Papua New Guinea for the same.
