Cricket Ireland have announced that Afghanistan will be touring the country in Aug 2018 for a limited overs tour. However, no Test matches are scheduled between the two nations in this particular tour.

The series will comprise of 3 ODI’s and T20I’s, which will be played at Stormont and Bready. The 3 T20I’s will be played at Bready Cricket Club, while the 3 ODI’s will be played at Stormont.

Both Ireland and Afghanistan have already announced their maiden Test matches against Pakistan and India respectively and with the ICC Annual General Meeting set to approve the final version of Future Tours Program (FTP) cycle for 2019-2023, this tour by Afghanistan will be additional to Ireland’s program for 2018.

“These new clashes will bring top-class cricket to Ulster, between world cricket’s two most recently announced Full Members. We have developed quite a competitive rivalry with the Afghans of late, and these should be great spectacles for the fans,” said Warren Deutrom, CEO of Cricket Ireland.
