Italy Cricket Federation have announced their 15-member Men’s national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe regional finals from October 15th – 21st, 2021 at Desert Springs Resort Cricket ground in Spain. Italy along with Denmark and Germany were given the qualification spots from the three (3) cancelled sub-regional qualifiers this year due to COVID-19 pandemic safety concerns for travelling countries. The three countries join Jersey in the qualifiers, from which there are two (2) qualification spots available into the Global qualifiers.
Italy squad will be led by Gareth Berg, who will be donning both the hats of player and coach. The big inclusions in the squad are in the form of Grant Stewart, with the Italian-Australian player just winning the English Vitality Blast T20 competition with Kent County club, and Surrey County club player Jade Dernbach, who has represented England in 58 games in his career and will now be donning the blue and represent his mother’s country of origin. Ben Menanti, who had earlier committed to play for the Azzuri in the qualifiers, unfortunately is not able to make the trip owing to COVID-19 safety precautions.
While the national squad prepare for the qualifiers, three (3) members of the squad, Amir Sharif, Baljith Singh and Jaspreet Singh will be travelling to Cartama Oval in Spain earlier to compete in the inaugural edition of European Cricket Championships T10 tournament for Italy from 27th September to 01st October.
Former England International Owais Shah will be the assistant coach for the national squad during the Europe qualifiers and his experience will be vital for the squad’s preparations, along with Gareth Berg’s. This will be the first International assignment for the Italian squad after their last tournament coming in 2019 in Oman during the first round of CWC Challenge League Group B event.

L'Italia insieme a Danimarca e Germania hanno ricevuto i posti di qualificazione dalle tre (3) qualificazioni subregionali annullate quest'anno a causa dei problemi di sicurezza della pandemia di COVID-19 per i paesi in viaggio. I tre paesi si uniscono al Jersey nelle qualificazioni, da cui ci sono due (2) punti di qualificazione disponibili nelle qualificazioni globali. La squadra italiana sarà guidata da Gareth Berg, che vestirà sia il ruolo di giocatore che quello di allenatore. Le grandi inclusioni nella squadra sono sotto forma di Grant Stewart, con il giocatore italo-australiano che ha appena vinto la competizione inglese Vitality Blast T20 con il club di Kent County, e il giocatore del club di Surrey County Jade Dernbach, che ha rappresentato l'Inghilterra in 58 partite nel suo carriera e ora indosserà la maglia azzurra e rappresenterà il paese d'origine di sua madre.
