Italian Women’s national squad are set to play their maiden T20Is, when they face-off in a 5-match bi-lateral series against Austria Women from August 09th – 12th, 2021. All the matches will take place at Roma Cricket Club pitch in Spinaceto in via Val di Perna.
A 20-member training camp squad took part in trail matches and practice sessions before the final 13-member squad was chosen for the series, after a combined north vs south series was conducted in July 2021 to select the training camp squad, under the guidance of national head coach, Royce H. Daniel.
The series was originally scheduled as a tri-series along with Jersey Women, but had to be changed after travel restrictions in place did not allow them to take part. Austria Women will be back in action after playing a bi-lateral series at home in 2020 against Germany Women in August. They are currently ranked 51st in the ICC Women’s T20I team rankings table.
