Japan Cricket Association (JCA) have scheduled bi-lateral T20 International series (with ICC T20I team ranking points) for both their Men’s and Women’s Teams, in the lead-up to the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in September 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya. Fellow participant in the Women’s Cricket category at the Games, Malaysia Women, will be playing a three (3)-match T20I series against the hosts’, while the Men’s team will play a two (2)-match T20I series with Hong Kong-China. This will be followed by the one-off T20I announced between the hosts’ and India, with the game to take place on 22nd September 2026, at the Sano International Cricket ground, for the Suzuki Cup title.
The match will be the first step of “Sport 75”, an initiative stems from an agreement reached during a summit between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and aims to promote human exchanges and cooperation between India and Japan in the field of sports, taking note of India’s ambition to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036.
All the matches across both these series will be taking place at the Sano International Cricket ground (Korogi Athletic Park ground will be the venue for the Games), and it will help Malaysia Women and Hong Kong-China Men’s teams to acclimatize with the conditions in Japan, ahead of the Games.
