Jersey Cricket Board (JCB) have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers from Oct 18th – Nov 02nd, 2019 in UAE. Jersey qualified for the tournament from the European finals held in Guernsey.
To prepare themselves for the conditions expected in UAE, JCB have arranged a tour of Qatar for a 3-match T20I series against the host’s. Qatar will be expected to provide a stern challenge after their impressive showing in the Asian finals held in Singapore, where they defeated higher-ranked opponent Nepal, during the group stages.
Jersey are grouped alongside UAE, Ireland, Hong Kong, Canada, Oman and Nigeria in Group B of the qualifiers. Top team from each group will move to the semi-final of the tournament, securing direct qualification to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020, with three more teams from each group featuring in qualification play-offs to determine the other four qualifiers.
Jersey are playing regular cricket off-late to prepare themselves. They played a 4-match T20I series against Netherlands ‘A’ and Sussex 2nd’s and will also play Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers (MCCYC) in two matches before their scheduled departure for tour of Qatar on 03rd Oct 2019.
