Jersey make clean sweep in the InfrasoftTech T20I Inter-Insular Cup

Jersey made a clean sweep over their Channel Island’s neighbours Guernsey in the 2019 T20I Inter Insular Cup, sponsored by InfrasoftTech and the first series played with official T20I status across the 3-match series, played at College Field and KGV playing field in Guernsey.

The opening game in the series went down to a Super-over showdown after Guernsey recovered well enough to tie with Jersey’s score of 128. Guernsey then managed to score 14 runs in the Super-over before Jonty Jenner smashed his way to guide Jersey to victory.

The next two games were won comfortably by Jersey by 41 and 76 runs and they completed a 3-0 series win over Guernsey in the T20I series. The only consolation for the home side came in the form of their women’s squad, who won their maiden T20I match against Jersey women in a one-off match to start the T20I Inter-Insular cup. Jersey women posted 114/4 in their 20 overs, and guided by Philippa Stahelin’s unbeaten knock of 56 from 52 balls, Guernsey reached the target with

Dominic Blampied was adjudged the man-of-the-series for his all-round performance with both the bat and the ball across the three matches.

Jersey and Guernsey will lock horns again shortly in Jun 2019, when they take part in the 2020 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe regional final qualifiers in Guernsey. They will be joined by Denmark, Norway, Italy and Germany in the qualifiers. All countries have announced their squads ahead of the qualifiers.
