Liberia Cricket Federation (LCF) Board Chairman Roopesh Ram recently was on a tour to Sierra Leone, where he met with the Chairman and Board members of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) on 03rd July 2022 and discussions were held on a lot of key points, that focussed on co-operation in the development of the sport in Liberia.
Liberia Cricket Federation (LCF) wishes to apply for Associate membership with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and are hoping for Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) to support their case and put forward their recommendation in front of North West Africa Cricket Council (NWACC) and Africa Cricket Association (ACA) on the same. If Liberia’s inclusion as an Associate member is approved by the ICC based on the board fulfilling the required criteria, SLCA will initiate the formation of the Mano River Union Cricket Association with Liberia Cricket as a member along with Ivory Coast Cricket Association.
The boards also agreed to form a 2-day cricket tournament comprising of two (2) best clubs from each country, to be held in Sierra Leone in October 2022. Also, Sierra Leone teams (National/Clubs) will visit Liberia to play regular practice matches. Board members of SLCA also committed to visit Liberia during the LPL (Liberia Premier League) tournament, which will be held from November 2022 to February 2023.
