The inaugural edition of the much awaited Major League Cricket (MLC) T20 tournament will take place from July 13th – 30th, 2023 and the announcement was made official by Justin Geale, MLC Tournament Director. The six (6) franchise teams will represent New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle metropolitan areas, with a single round-robin group stage format followed by the knock-out stages, culminating in a total of nineteen (19) games. The opening match will take place on July 13th, 2023, at the newly-constructed Major League Cricket venue, Grand Prairie Stadium (7000 seater stadium, can be expanded to 15000 capacity), in Grand Prairie, Texas. The other ground that will be in use during the tournament will be the Church Street Park ground in Morrisville, which has been the venue for the Minor League Cricket (MiLC) Finals.
The domestic player draft for the inaugural edition took place on 19th March 2023, with all the teams selecting nine (9) players each, with the remaining overseas professionals to be individually announced by the franchises in the coming weeks.
