Women’s Zonal T20 for Malawi players to continue domestic season

Cricket Malawi (CM) is organizing the domestic zonal T20 tournament for Women players, as the national squad prospects will begin their preparations for any international matches or series in the near future. The tournament is being sponsored by Kotex South Africa, which will begin from 21st August 2021 at Indian Sports Club, Mthawira Catholic Church ground and College of Medicine ground.

A total of 135 players will be playing for the teams from Limbe, Soche, Bangwe, Nyambadwe, Machinjiri, Lunzu, Chirimba, Mbayani and Blantyre, who have been segregated into three groups. Group A will consist of the Limbe catchment teams of Soche, Bangwe and Limbe, Group B of Ndirande catchment teams of Lunzu, Nyambadwe and Machinjiri and Group C of Chilomoni catchment teams Mbayani, Chrimba and Blantyre.

The nine squads will be led by Farida Willard (Limbe), Eranive Khasu (Bangwe), Jamila Mustafa (Soche), Mary Mabvuka (Machinjiri), Trifonia Luka (Nyambadwe) Promise Chiwaya (Chirimba), Vanessa Phiri (Mbayani) , Lydia Dimba ( Lunzu) and Nomsah Jumbe (Blantyre) in the competition. Each teams in all the three groups will play each other thrice during the group stages, following which the group winners and best placed 2nd team from all the groups will advance to the semi-finals.
