Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) will be hosting the men’s national squads of Hong Kong in a 5-match Interport T20I series from Feb 18th – 22nd, 2020 at Kinrara Oval. The series was shifted from Hong Kong as a precautionary move due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in China.
The series will be part of preparations for both Hong Kong and Malaysia before the start of Asian Cricket Council’s Eastern Region T20 tournament in Thailand from Feb 28th, 2020, which is the qualification pathway towards 2020 Asia Cup Qualifiers. All matches in the series will be live streamed on Cricket Malaysia’s YouTube channel.
Malaysia visited Nepal few weeks back to play a series of OD matches to start their preparations for the tournament, and continued the preps with a T20 series at home against the visiting Lahore Dvine-i Eagles squad from Pakistan. Hong Kong had a busy end to 2019, after participation in 2019 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE in Oct 2019 and 1st round of ICC CWC Challenge League Group B competition in Oman in Dec 2019.

Hong Kong’s last visit to Malaysia was in Aug 2018 for the ACC Asia Cup Qualifiers, which they won after defeating UAE in a rain-curtailed match and advanced to the main draw of Asia Cup. Kinchit Shah will be the star attraction in the series after having a good last 1 1/2 years as an all-rounder with plenty of runs and wickets to his name.
