Following the conclusion of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Play-off Qualifier in February/March 2024 in Malaysia, National teams of Bahrain, Kuwait, Tanzania and Vanuatu will be staying back in the country and join host’s Malaysia in a rare Inter-regional T20 International tournament, which will be a Pentangular affair and will be known as the Malaysia Open T20 Championship 2024. The tournament will take place from March 05th – 11th, and will see all the teams play each other in a single round-robin group stage format, followed by the Finals.
The tournament will be crucial for the likes of Malaysia and Vanuatu, who will not be part of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualification pathway, and hence will need as many T20I ranking points as possible to stay in contention to qualify for the Play-off Qualifier next time.
