Malaysia announce squad for tri-nation T20I series in Nepal

Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) have announced the 15-member men’s senior squad, that will tour Nepal, after a 5-match inter-squad national trials from March 27th – April 01st, 2021 was concluded at Kinrara Oval stadium.

The matches acted as preparatory camp for squad selection ahead of national squads tour of Nepal from April 17th – 24th, where they will play a T20I tri-series involving the host’s and Netherlands. It will be a rare occasion for Malaysia to be playing competitive T20I matches against Netherlands, while the national team has faced Nepal in the recent past.

National players in both Eastern Titans and Western Crushers impressed during the matches, with Virandeep Singh emerging as the top player in both batting and bowling disciplines. The inter-squad matches marked the resumption for the national squad players back on the field, who were forced to take a break due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions while the MCA Super League tournament was still happening in February 2021.

Malaysia have had good results in the recent past, including a 5-0 series victory over Hong Kong at home, before registering a win over Nepal in ACC Eastern region T20 tournament in Thailand, before all cricket globally was suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic.
