Malaysian and Singapore Men’s National team will be touring Sri Lanka from January 12th – 21st, 2024 to play practice matches against local clubs/teams to prepare for their upcoming tournaments in the 50-overs and T20 formats respectively. Malaysia Men are scheduled to compete in a One-day Tri-series tournament in Hong Kong in early February 2024, followed by the all-important ICC CWC Challenge League Play-off Qualifier at home in the final week of February, which is the qualification event towards becoming part of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup pathway program. Singapore Men on the other hand, are preparing for their upcoming tournament in Thailand in the Asia Cup qualification pathway tournament (ACC Men’s Challenger Cup).
The preparatory tour will also mark the beginning of new leadership in the Malaysian dressing room, with Virandeep Singh and Syed Aziz announced as the Captain and Vice-captain for the team going forward, with Ahmad Faiz relinquishing his leadership role after being at the helm since 2013, and will lead the side for the final time in March 2024 in a T20I quadrangular tournament at home.
