Maldives announce squad for ACC Men’s Western Region T20

Maldives Cricket Board have announced the 14-member squad for the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s Western Region T20 tournament, to be held in Oman from Jan 18th – 25th, 2019.

Maldives national squad were in Pakistan recently, where they undertook training and practice sessions at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) and played 5 T20 matches against local clubs and NCA development squad.

Maldives also visited Qatar to play a 3-match T20 series from Dec 17th – 19th, 2018 towards preparation towards the tournament.

Maldives will be competing against the host’s Kuwait, along with Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in the 5-nation tournament. All the participants have prior experience of playing in Kuwait during the ICC World T20 Asia “A” qualifiers earlier this year. All matches in the Western Region T20 will carry official T20I status and all the countries will be making their T20I debuts in the tournament.
