MCC come up short against South Africa in 2017 Hong Kong Sixes

South Africa won their 2nd match in a row as they beat Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) comfortably by in 2017 Hong Kong Sixes.

Batting first, Proteas lost both Erwee & Sayanwala to Gareth Berg, who picked up 2/8 off his only over. Thereafter, the bowlers struggled to pick up wickets as Ferisco Adams (35 off 7), Jerry Nqolo (34 off 8) & Aubrey Swanepoel (29 n.o off 10) launched a brutal counterattack to take South Africa to 115/2 in their 5 overs.

Erwee made up for his failure with the bat by picking up 2/17 removing both MCC openers, Jordan Clark & Darren Stevens in the first over. Samit Patel continued his brilliant 2017 season by hitting 32 off 10 deliveries while Rikki Clarke blasted 32 off 6 deliveries with 5 sixes off Nqolo. John Simpson soon followed after making only 1 off Swanepoel’s bowling.

Clarke came back and along with Berg, tried to score 30 off the final over but came up short as they managed to post 99/3 in 5 overs. Clarke remained unbeaten on 44 off 12 deliveries; however, MCC lost the match by 16 runs.
