Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) are resuming overseas tours for the first time since COVID-19 pandemic situation emerged globally in 2020, as they announce two separate squads to play two (2) T20 Tri-series at Desert Springs Resort ground in Almeria, Spain in November 2021.
MCC will play against Men’s national squads from Germany and Italy in the first Tri-series from November 13th – 15th, while the second Tri-series event takes place between November 17th – 19th, and involves Men’s national squads from host’s Spain and Austria. The matches between the competing nations (2 games between Germany vs Italy and 2 games between Spain vs Austria) will have official ICC T20 International status.
Chris Swallow and Thomas Rash will be leading the respective MCC squads, with Yasir Arafat and Paul Davidge appointed as the team managers for the tour. The tour also includes coaching sessions conducted by travelling coaches of the MCC squads. Italy and Germany recently played against each other at the same venue during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe regional finals, while Germany played a bi-lateral series against Spain prior to that at the same venue.
