Mixed start to Netherlands Women in ECB Women’s County Championship

Netherlands Women’s National teams is currently taking part in the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) Women’s Championship Division 3 Group B, in the 50-overs format.

Crucial tournament for Netherlands Women before the ICC Women’s WorldT20 qualifiers in Jun 2018 as they start their 2018 season in the County Championships. Netherlands Women will play against Cornwall Women XI, Wiltshire Cricket Board Women XI and Corset Women XI in group B of the 50-overs competition.

In a different approach to points scoring, teams are given 10 points for a win and bonus points for batting and bowling. After 2 completed games, Netherlands Women have got 22 points with 5 points in batting and 7 points in bowling.

The campaign didn’t start on the positive note as they lost their opening match against Cornwall Women’s XI but bounced back strongly against Wiltshire Cricket Board Women’s XI in the 2nd game in the group phase stage of the tournament.

Cornwall Women XI 189/8 in 50 overs (Ellie Mitchell 49, Rebecca Odgers 39, Sophie Richards 25, Caroline de Fouw 3/22, Silver Siegers 3/34, Annemijn Thomson 2/35) beat Netherlands Women 139 all out in 40.4 overs (Cher van Slobbe 42, Heather Siegers 21, Kellie Williams 4/14, Charlotte Phillips 2/20, Joleigh Roberts 2/33) by 50 runs

Wiltshire Cricket Board Women XI 60 all out in 25.3 overs (Sarah Rountree 21, Silver Siegers 3/9, Lisa Klokgieters 2/8, Cher van Slobbe 2/17, Heather Siegers 1/1) lost to Netherlands Women 62 for no loss in 8.5 overs (Babette de Leede 26 n.o, Jolien van Vliet 25 n.o) by 10 wickets
