Mommsen back for Scotland as squad announced for England ODI

Scotland Cricket selectors have announced their 15-member squad to face England on Jun 10th at the Grange in Edinburgh in The Specsavers One Day International.

The heavily scoring and in-form Dylan Budge has deservedly got his opportunity in the senior side while a major comeback for former captain, Preston Mommsen, adds up to the quality of the Scottish squad, which took part in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Mar 2018 in Zimbabwe.

Both Budge and Mommsen were in top form in the recently concluded Scotland “A” tour of Lancashire Cricket Club for a 50-overs and two T20 matches against their 2nd XI squad. Budge scored half-centuries in all the three matches while Mommsen scored two half-centuries in the first two games in the series.

While most of the squad are currently playing domestic season in Scotland in their 50-overs and T20 competitions, few like Safyaan Sharif, Brad Wheal & Stuart Whittingham are playing in the English domestic competitions. While Sharif and Wheal are playing with their respective counties in the Royal London One Day Cup, Whittingham has been playing for Sussex 2nd XI squad in 50-overs matches.

The ODI will also serve as a crucial lead-up to two T20I’s against Pakistan on 12th & 13th Jun, 2018.

Scotland Men’s squad for England ODI:

Kyle Coetzer (Captain), Richie Berrington (vice-captain), Dylan Budge, Matthew Cross, Alasdair Evans, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Calum MacLeod, Preston Mommsen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Mark Watt, Brad Wheal & Stuart Whittingham
