Namibia batting failure costs them warm-up match in U19 World Cup

Namibia U-19 team’s batting came up terribly short against a strong Pakistan U-19 bowling attack as it skittled out for paltry 107 runs chasing 298 for victory in their first ICC U-19 World Cup warm-up game.

Matt Hay (34 off 29), Liam Foulkes (18 off 26) and couple of 15’s by Jan-Izak de Villiers and Nicol Loftie-Eaton were the only contributions in the team total. None of the batsmen though were able to play longer innings against a disciplined Pakistan bowling line-up.

Mohammad Taha (3/12), Shaheen Shah Afridi (3/18) and Muhammad Musa (2/26) finished with good figures against their names.

Earlier, a classy century by Mohsin Khan (102 retired out off 114) and half-centuries by Ali Zaryab Asif (51 off 59) & Mohammad Taha (56 off 36) propelled Pakistan U-19 to 297 before getting all out in 49.5 overs.

Jan-Izak de Villiers (4/52), Matt Hay (2/44) and Richard Turpie (2/12) were the top picks among Namibian U-19 bowlers.

Namibia U-19 play their final warm-up match against Afghanistan U-19 on 10th Jan 2018 before the proper tournament starts from 13th Jan.
