Namibia gen-next relish Khaya Majola U19 week experience

Cricket Namibia (CN) got the opportunity to send their U19 squad to the Annual Coca-Cola Khaya Majola cricket week, which took place in Cape Town from Dec 16th-20th, 2018.

Namibia U19, who will be vying for a spot in the 2020 U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa in the 2019 U19 Africa regional finals in Namibia, got to play a total of 12 matches during the U19 week, as they played 2 games each against the 6 provinces during the duration of the tournament.

Each team in the tournament gets to play matches in different formats ranging from a 65-over innings to a 120-overs, 50-overs and 20-overs, and at the end of the play, the team can win outright based on scoring more than their opponent or bowling out the opposition. The time-based event are the ones where a stipulation number of overs needs to be played in a single day.

Namibia U19 players made some good performances in various formats. Guys like Lohan Louwrens, Petrus Burger, Shaun Fouche, Jan Izak de Villiers and Mauritius Ngupita will be looking forward to getting more opportunities in the senior national squad in the coming months, leading upto the ICC WCL Division 2, T20 World Cup Africa regional finals and U19 World Cup Africa Division 1.
