ICC has awarded Cricket Namibia the hosting rights for the ICC World Cricket League Division 2. The 6 team tournament will be held in February 2018, one month prior to ICC World Cup Qualifiers to be held in March 2018 in Zimbabwe.

The bottom 4 teams from the ongoing WCL championship from which UAE & Namibia are already confirmed to take part in Division 2 will join Oman & Canada, who qualified from ICC WCL Division 3, held earlier this year in Uganda.

The hosting rights gives Namibia the advantage of playing in their home conditions to push for the top 2 spots, who will join the bottom 4 countries from ICC ODI table (West Indies, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe & Ireland) & Top 4 teams from ICC WCL Championship to for the 10 nations ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
