Cricket Namibia (CN) have announced a 16-member men’s national squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Oman and UAE from 17th October 2021. Namibia Men’s are part of first round group of the tournament, and will compete for two (2) spots into the Super12 stage from the group consisting of former Champions Sri Lanka, Ireland and Netherlands.
Namibia Men’s have been playing competitive cricket since April 2021, and have had series winning results against Uganda national team, South Africa and Zimbabwe Emerging teams, and South Africa domestic franchises Multiply Titans and ITEC Knights to prepare for the marquee event.
Former Proteas International David Weise has also been included in the squad, after he was eligible to qualify based on his father’s birth country being Namibia, and has been granted National citizenship, making him eligible for selection in the squad.
