Namibia thrashed by Bangladesh in U-19 World Cup opener

Namibia U-19 suffered a big loss against Bangladesh U-19 in a rain-curtailed 20 overs contest on the opening day of ICC U-19 World Cup group stage match.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a mammoth total of 190/4 thanks to half-centuries from Mohammad Naim and Saif Hassan. Namibia could only muster 103/6 in reply in their 20 overs to lose the match by 87 runs.

Saif Hassan played a captain’s innings, smashing 84 off 48 balls, before falling on the last ball of the 20 overs. Mohammad Naim made 60 runs and added 97 runs for the 2nd wicket along with Saif to lay the platform for Bangladesh U-19.

Namibia made a horrific start as they were reduced to 12/4 in no time and any challenge to the target was well over at that point. A 69 runs partnership for the 5th wicket between Eben van Wyk (55 off 52) and Nicol Loftie-Eaton (24 off 26) was the main highlight of the Namibian innings. Qazi Onik bowled brilliantly picking up 2/14 off his 4 overs. Onik was well supported by fellow paceman, Hasan Mahmud , who picked up 2/12 from his 4 overs.
