Namibia and India on Nepal’s radar in April and May 2021

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) have announced that the Men’s national squad will be playing against their Namibian counterparts in May 2021 in a ODI series. The proposed series will take place in the third week of the month, as announced after a board meeting of the official.

There was updates given for the Women’s national squad as well, as they will take on India’s domestic state Women side from Uttarakhand in a series comprising of T20 and one-day matches. The series will mark ex-men’s national coach Jagat Tamata’s foray with the Women’s team and it will provide crucial preparations for the team, who have ACC Women’s Asia Cup qualifiers and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup regional qualifiers in their scheduled International events in the final quarter of 2021.

With COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in place globally, the Associate nations are trying to schedule matches as much as possible, before the major ICC events scheduled in 2021 begins, which are qualification pathway tournaments towards 2023 Cricket World Cup and 2022/2023 T20 World Cup’s. While Namibia Men’s team recently hosted Uganda for a T20I and one-day series in April 2021, Nepal Men’s team will also be in action shortly in a T20I tri-nation series at home against Netherlands and Malaysia.

Nepal’s Women players were involved in the recently concluded 50-overs domestic tournament at Tribhuvan University ground, which will host the matches in the upcoming Men’s T20I tri-series from April 14th – 24th.
