The Launceston Nepali Cricket Club was first formed in 2015 and now has a team playing A-grade cricket in the state league of Tasmania. The club comprising of 35-odd members/players were part of the B-grade league in 2019-2020 and after finishing third in the league overall, were invited to take part in the first grade of Tasmania Cricket League (TCL).

The club was formed by Nepali migrants living on the suburbs of Mowbray and Newnham, whose population has now grown to 2000+ from a meagre 59-odd in the 2011 census. The club now has it’s own “home” ground after Brooks High school in Newnham allowed them to use the oval.

The community has a strong presence in the region and the club is backed by the Nepali Society of Northern Tasmania in association with Tasmanian Government.

The club has a long season ahead, which started on 17th October 2020, with their first game against Cressy Cricket Club, and will conclude after the final league game against Longford Cricket Club on 20th February 2020. The club will be playing a total of 16 matches in the longer format of white-ball cricket, which includes seven games at their home 🏡 ground.
