Nepal’s Sagar Pun & Aasif Sheikh are relishing the opportunity of playing in the 50-overs domestic tournament in the 2018 Malaysia Premier League, after losing out in the selection for the national squad for Nepal’s tour of UK and Netherlands in the 20-men closed camp preparatory camp announced by ICC.
Pun & Sheikh are representing team Kuala Lumpur in the tournament and Pun impressed in his very first outing for the team against team Penang in the 3rd match of the tournament. Team Kuala Lumpur boasts of some of the top players form Malaysia’s national squad including the likes of Ahmed Faiz, Virandeep Singh, Pavandeep Singh, Syed Aziz Syed Mubarak and others.
Penang were bowled out for a meagre total of 111 in 30.1 overs, which Kuala Lumpur chased down in the 17th over, riding on a half-century knock by Sagar Pun. Earlier, Syed Aziz’s 4-for wrecked the batting line-up for Penang in their innings. Pun also rolled his arm over for 4 overs, conceding 19 runs but could not pick up a wicket to his name to go along with his batting accolades from the match.
Although Aasif Sheikh was not required to bat in the match, he contributed with his glove-work by claiming three catches during Kuala Lumpur’s bowling innings.
