It was a case for Netherlands and Jersey camps to provide match practice for some of the senior national squad members and also try out some of the youngsters (on the sidelines of national call-up) in the 4-match series played out in Essex county.
Although Netherlands ‘A’ squad won all the matches (3 T20 and one-off 50-overs) in the series, it was good exposure for most of the younger members of the squad. Both countries will be part of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Oct/Nov 2019 in UAE and might even be in the same group and these matches will have provided the head coaches of both the camps to assess each other’s strengths and weakness. Netherlands, will however, will definitely have all their major professional players available for the qualifiers and that will make them the team to beat.
For Netherlands ‘A’, Stephen Myburgh, Vikram Singh, Clayton Floyd and Sebastiaan Braat performed well throughout the series, while Corey Bisson and N Greenwood impressed for Jersey. Jersey have a busy International cricket period ahead with the qualifiers, followed by the 1st round of ICC CWC Challenge League Group B tournament in Hong Kong in Nov/Dec 2019.
