KNCB (Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond) have announced that they will be playing their first ODI series in the 2023 CWC Super League qualification pathway competition in June 2021, when they host the men’s national squad of Ireland at home. The three ODI matches will be played on 04th, 07th and 09th June 2021 at Kampong cricket club ground in Utrecht.
Netherlands were scheduled to host Pakistan and travel to Zimbabwe in 2020 for their two Super League ODI series, which got postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. The Pakistan series is now scheduled to take place in the summer of 2022. KNCB recently hosted Scotland for two ODI matches in May 2021 to prepare for the Super League fixtures, plus the national players were part of Netherlands “A” squad, that played a series of 50-over games in Ireland against their Wolves squad before the Scotland series.
Cricket Ireland have named a 15-member squad for the tour, with additional four players to assist the squad during training sessions. Ireland have played 6 games so far in the Super League out of allocated 24, and have won only one solitary game against England in 2020. The team will be expecting to gain maximum points from the series to challenge for a top 7 spot in the league table, while Netherlands will be looking to make a strong start to their campaign as well.
