Netherlands win final match to finish ICC World Cricket League Championship in Style

The Netherlands finished their ICC World Cricket League Championship campaign with victory as they comprehensively beat Namibia by five wickets in their final game thanks to a brilliant display of bowling from Vivian Kingma, who collected a hat-trick among his 6 wickets.

With the Netherlands already winning the trophy and achieving the 13th position in the ODI League and all ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 positions secured on Wednesday, today’s matches focused on confirming final positions.

Kingma took three early wickets as the African team slipped to 39/3 inside the first 10 overs. Gerhard Erasmus battled hard to rescue the innings but only Zane Green and Sarel Burger passed 20 runs among the rest of the batting line-up. Erasmus top-scored with 81 runs, but Kingma took a stunning hat-trick in the first three balls of the 34th over to finish with 6/39 as Namibia were bowled out for only 181.

Sarel Burger (2/23) bowled economically and dismissed Max O’Dowd (5) and Wesley Barresi (32) as Namibia looked for early wickets to put pressure on the dutch batting line-up. Craig Williams (2/34) also chipped in with wickets of Ben Cooper (26) and Peter Borren (9) as Netherlands looked in some trouble at 105/5, but dutch talisman Ryan ten Doeschate (65) rolled back few years appearing once again in orange and alongside Roelof van der Merwe, who finsihed with a 26-ball 17 not out, took Netherlands to victory and finish their WCL campaign in style.

Netherlands now head to World Cup Qualifiers while Namibia will head back home to take part in ICC WCL Division 2 for the final 2 qualifying spots for the World Cup Qualifiers.
