After being awarded Women’s ODI status by International Cricket Council (ICC) for qualification purpose towards Women’s World Cup qualifiers, KNCB (Netherlands Cricket Board) have now secured their first series and will play against the visiting team from Ireland in August 2022. VRA ground will host the first two (2) matches of the series on 22nd and 24th August, while the final game will take place at VCC ground on 26th August.
This is the first WODI series between the two countries after their previous series dating back to 2006. The Dutch Women’s team were part of the curtailed 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier in November 2021 in Zimbabwe, but their matches were not given official ODI or List-A status. While the Irish players have been playing 50-overs cricket in the domestic circuit back home, the Dutch side played a practice game against the U16 boys team to get acclimatized to playing together in the longer format of the white-ball game, having played one-day format matches for their respective clubs in the domestic competition. Head Coach Shane Dietz will be expected a good outing from the likes of Babette de Leede (VCC), Robine Rijke (HV&CV Quick), Annemijn van Beuge (VCC), Silver Siegers (HCC Rood eb Wit), Frederique Overdijk (HV&CV Quick), Eva Lynch (VCC) and Caroline de Lange (HV&CV Quick) in all the matches.
