Nigeria and Cameroon announce squads for ACA T20 Africa Cup

Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) and Cameroon Cricket Federation (FECA) have announced their men’s national squads for the inaugurual edition of ACA T20 Africa Cup finals, to be hosted by Cricket Kenya from Mar 20th – 28th, 2020 in Nairobi.

Nigeria are placed in Group A alongwith Uganda, Ghana and Malawi, while Group B consist’s of Kenya, Botswana, Cameroon and Mozambique. The tournament group stage will be played in a single round-robin format, following which, the top 2 team’s from each group will advance to the semifinals. All matches will be classified as official T20Is, with ranking points to be counted towards ICC Men’s T20I team rankings.

Both Nigeria and Cameroon took part in the regional qualifiers in 2018, which were hosted adjacent to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa sub-regional qualifiers. Nigeria went onto participating in the T20 World Cup global qualifiers in Oct/Nov 2019 in UAE, and their U19 squad are taking part in their maiden apperance in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, so it has been a successfull year for the men’s cricket program for Nigeria, and having already given direct passage to Africa regional finals for 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualification, the squad will be looking forward to giving a stern fight for the title against the regional heavyweights, Kenya and Uganda.
