Nigeria and Ghana remain unbeaten in Lagos Qualifiers

Host’s Nigeria and Ghana remained unbeaten after 2nd round of matches in the ICC Africa “A” sub-regional qualifiers for WorldT20 at Lagos. Both teams will now face each other to occupy the top spot in the points table on 17th Apr 2018.

While Nigeria posted a 55-runs victory over The Gambia, Ghana defended a below-par score against Sierra Leone to emerge victorious by 31 runs. Sierra Leone will the the four run-out’s in their innings which halted their challenge towards the target after their bowlers did a brilliant job of restricting Ghana to only 140.

With the top 2 team’s advancing to Regional Finals from each of the three groups in Africa, Nigeria and Ghana have both opened up a good gap of 4 points as of now over The Gambia and Sierra Leone respectively and the winner between The Ghana and Sierra Leone in the 3rd round of group matches will allow one team to open their points account and hopefully start their winning ways in the tournament.

Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), who have signed the sponsorship agreement with Visionscape Sanitation, held a press conference yesterday at the ground talking about the support and financial assistance they have received from them prior to hosting the ICC tournament, which will be followed by regional qualifiers for Africa Cricket Association’s T20 Africa Cup.
