Nigeria squad announced for maiden appearance in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) have announced the 15-member U19 squad for the upcoming ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa from 17th Jan – 09th Feb, 2020. Nigeria qualified for the World Cup after winning the U19 CWC Africa division 1 qualifiers in Namibia in Mar 2019, remaining unbeaten in the tournament after claiming wins over U19 team’s from Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Sierra Leone.

It will be Nigeria’s maiden appearance in a Cricket World Cup (senior or junior) event, and after the senior side participated in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Oct 2019 in UAE, the African nation has had a significantly successful year in International Cricket.

Nigeria have been placed alongside Australia, England and West Indies in Group B of ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in the group stages, and will play their matches at Kimberly (Country Club B Field) and Bloemfontein (Diamond Oval).
