Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) have announced their 14-member squad for the upcoming ICC U19 World Cup Africa regional qualifiers in Rwanda from September 28th – October 07th, 2021 at Gahanga International Cricket Stadium and IPRC ground in Kigali.
Nigeria U19 team will be competing with Namibia, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda for the lone qualification spot into the main draw of U19 World Cup in West Indies in 2022. ICC has already cancelled the Americas, Asia and East Asia-Pacific U19 regional qualifiers on account of COVID-19 pandemic logistical and safety issues, with Africa and Europe regional events still going ahead as planned.
Emmanuel Ochie Boniface, who played in Nigeria U19 maiden appearance at the U19 World Cup in 2020 in South Africa, is going to lead the squad in the qualifiers in a bid to make his second consecutive World Cup appearance in 2022.
