Canada’s Nitish Kumar to play for Leeward Islands in Super50

Although ICC Americas region Associate members USA and Canada will not be part of 2021 Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 tournament, an opportunity has come calling for Canadian National squad member Nitish Kumar.

Nitish Kumar has been selected in the squad, after being invited to take part in Leeward Islands Hurricanes franchise teams training camp in Antigua, which will be hosting all the six franchises (Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and the Windward Islands) from February 07th – 27th, 2021 in the competition.

He was eligible for selection in the final 15-member squad upon being invited for the training camp, which will represent the franchise at the 2021 Championships. Nitish Kumar is a leading player in the Canadian National team purely based on talent and numbers to back it up, with him finishing as the highest run-getter for Canada during the T20 World Cup qualifiers held in UAE in Oct/Nov 2019.

Nitish Kumar did well for Canada during the previous edition of Super50, amassing over 250+ runs in 8 matches. An ex-captain of Canada from 2016-2019, Nitish Kumar also had a dual mentor role for the tournament as Canada fielded a young squad with many U19 age-group players from previous years U19 Cricket World Cup.
