Cricket Oman (OC) is leaving no stones unturned as they look to make a positive start in the maiden Tri-series in ICC CWC League 2 in Scotland in Aug 2019.
Oman will be competing against host’s Scotland and Papua New Guinea at Aberdeen from Aug 12th – 21st, where they play 4 ODI matches (2 each against their opponents), as the race towards qualification for 2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers kicks-off.
Oman secured their ODI status during the final edition of World Cricket League Division 2 tournament held in Namibia in Apr 2019, along with USA, Papua New Guinea and Namibia, and joined Scotland, UAE and Nepal in CWC League 2.
Oman national squad will be travelling to London for a 12-day pre-tour camp at Old Trafford in Manchester to acclimatise themselves with the weather conditions, which will be pretty similar to what they will face in Aberdeen. Oman head coach Duleep Mendis has confirmed that the squad will also get to play few practice games to get into the groove of things.
Top 3 teams at the end of CWC League 2 tournament will qualify directly for 2022 ICC World Cup Qualifiers, while bottom 4 will compete along with Top team from ICC CWC Challenge League groups A and B in the Challenge League play-off’s for the final 2 spots in the World Cup Qualifiers.
