Cricket Oman (CO) have announced a 14-member men’s senior national squad, which will be competing in a T20I quadrangular series against the visiting teams from Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands.
A Development XI squad was also announced by the selectors, which will play two T20 matches against Ireland before the start of the Quadrangular tournament. Oman Development team will also play some practice matches against the Senior Oman side leading to the Quadrangular T20 tournament.
The tournament will see all the teams play each other once and the top team at the end of the group-phase will be declared the winners. Oman are high on confidence factor after winning the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 at home in Nov 2018 but a disappointment campaign in the ACC Emerging Nations Asia Cup in Dec 2018 will spur them back on to start 2019 on a more positive note.
With high stakes tournaments lined up in 2019 with ODI status in the offing in ICC World Cricket League Division 2 and 2020 Men’s T20 World Cup spot in the offing in the Global Qualifiers, the year couldn’t be anymore bigger for Cricket Oman and the T20I Quadrangular will be the perfect preparatory start towards greater targets in the year.
